Brioude, France

Brioude, France
Watercolor on paper
Brioude is in the Auvergne region, in France. I visited this calm and pleasant little town, with unspoiled streets and houses, to enjoy their bienal watercolor festival, last summer....
I painted this watercolor some time ago, but did not know how to finish it. I'm fairly happy with the splashed colors effect that I ended up with. Feedback is welcome....

I think this is beautiful, Theresa. I am not sure why, but my immediate reaction was that this was a rainy day...not sure why. Maybe that long empty space in front (think wet pavement), the umbrellas, the splashes of color. Just sets a remarkably beautiful tone for this painting. Gorgeous!

Very interesting piece, Theresa. I like the looseness of the foreground. The only suggestion I might have is to crop a bit off the bottom so the piece isn't divided at the half-way point. I'm thinking not a whole lot. Just a thought.

I was very impressed by your painting of the Egyptian security guard. Well done!

This scene gives that true European atmosphere, slow days, slow leisurely living and slow food. Well done, Theresa!
