Gratitude I

Gratitude I (Lilly)
20" x 15" Watercolor on Paper

I showed this painting, along with many others, at the WTO - World Trade Organization show in 2007 and it is now hanging in my atelier. I decide to post it because I haven't had much of chance to paint these days. With my 11-year-old daughter on vacation, we are always on the go, enjoying the outdoors and having very little time for painting. Well, I do have a couple of small paintings I'm working on, so I shall be posting them soon.

Cardon in Bloom

Cardon in Bloom
6.5" x 10" Watercolor on paper

When in season, you can find cardon stalks being sold in grocery stores all over town in Geneva. You can also find them pickled so that you can savor them all year round. It's a region delicacy. I found this beautiul bloom at the Botanical Gardens in Geneva, a few weeks ago, and fell in love with it.

My daughter has been on Summer vacation and, therefore, I have not been painting and posting as often. We have been busy having fun - hiking, biking, swimming, travelling, making wonderful memories.... I shall go back to posting on a regular basis in the fall when she goes back to school - as a middle schooler! Meanwhile, I shall post whenever I get a chance to paint in between our comings and goings. I hope you are all having a great summer!

Cherries in Crystal Bowl II

Cherries in Crystal Bowl II
6.5" x 10" Watercolor on paper

These are the same cherries from yesterday's painting. I painted them simultaneously and thought I'd post the one I liked the most - it turns out I like them both. So, there!

Cherries in Crystal Bowl I

Cherries in Crystal Bowl
6.5" x 10" Watercolors on paper

These were really delicious cherries! They came from the store because our cherry tree in the backyard does not seem to have produced any this year. Most probably, the cold weather during the flowering season was harmful to the fruits...

Pears on Tea Box

Pears on Tea Box
6"x6" Watercolor on Paper

These are the same pear models from yesterday, although they look so different - the pears from yesterday were in natural light, while these were under artificial light.... I hope you are having a great weekend!

Pears in Bowl

Pears in Bowl
6.5" x 10" Watercolor on Paper

To me, it looks like these pears are busy gossiping. I love painting pears because they have so much personality!

Friends III (Yellow and Red Bell Pepper)

Friends III (Yellow and Red Bell Peppers)
6.5" x 10" Watercolor on Paper
This is the last of 3 paintings of these delicious pair of bell peppers. I handbuilt and fired the plate in the painting some time ago, when I lived in Tokyo. I hope you like it!

Friends II (Yellow and Red Bell Pepper)

Friends II (yellow and Red Bell Pepper)
6.6" x 10" Watercolor on Paper

Bell peppers are translucent in the sunlight and are lovely to paint. I have one more set of these "friends" bellpeppers tomorrow.....

Summer has been wonderful here in Geneva, Switzerland. The temperatures are in the high 70s and we have lots of sunshine, as well. What more does one need?

Yellow Onions II

Yellow Onions II
6.5" x 10" Watercolor on paper
I'm pretty happy about how this painting turned out. I particularly like the light that goes through the paper like onion peel.

I enjoyed painting these paper thin onion peels and the colorful shadows. I shall try another one again tomorrow.
