white magnolia II

white magnolia II 6"x8"
watercolor on paper

Magnolias are on of my favorite flowers to paint. I like the contrast of white petals and black background (a mixture of pthalo blue, alizarin crimson and pthallo green) in this painting. It gives the bloom a serene and luminous effect. Have a great day!

Gorgeous flower with translucent shimmery petals. Love the close-up view and sense of scale. I know that flowers are difficult to paint..and this one's a beauty!
