Flower Vases

Flower Vases
6.5" x 8" Watercolor on paper
Ok, I have to admit, I'm not so sure about this one. It's just that it's the first time I attempt to paint metal... I think. I couldn't resist painting the shiny surface of the brass vases, and have to admit, it was fun!

Technology restored

Pink Catleya
Watercolor on Arches paper
(SOLD)
It took way too long, but I had my PC and camera fixed, yay! Now, I have to get acquainted with the new programs and how they work and so on and so forth. Fun... not! What I really find fun doing is painting, which I have been doing this whole time. More precisely, I have been painting large (30" x 40") watercolors for my next show at the United Nations, which is hapenning next May. I shall post the finished paintings when they are ready, meanwhile, I shall post this, from the last show... I hope you like it! Will post the others in the days to come... have a great day!

Technology meltdown

I've been painting every day but haven't been able to post... it's a bit frustating that my computer and digital camera broke down about the same time a couple of weeks ago... ugh!.. While computer and camera are in the shop, I have been painting large (40" x 40") and having a good time! I will go back to my small daily paintings as soon as technology is restored. Hope you are all well, enjoying the winter. Hugs!

WIPO Exhibit

What a lovely evening we spent viewing the beautiful works of over 30 artists (I was one of the proud artists, of course!) and catching up with friends! Thank you so much for coming to the vernissage at the WIPO - World Intellectual Property Organization, last Tuesday evening. If you couldn't make it for the opening, the exhibit goes on until the 20th of February, 2009. So, if you are in Geneva, please stop by.... The WIPO building is at the Place des Nations, just across from the United Nations building. Hope to see you there!

Ducky II

Ducky II
6" x 6" Watercolor on paper
I saw this duck sitting on the shelf at my photography teacher's home. I liked the way the light was hitting it's head, just so, and the shadow over it's body - I just had to paint it! This duck looks like the ones I used to feed at a park when my daughter was little.... Of course the ones we fed were not decoys...

Yellow Rose By Theresa Miller

Yellow Rose
6.5" X 8" Watercolor on Paper
I have been busy getting ready for the art exhibit at WIPO - World Intellectual Property Organization - next Tuesday, 3rd of February. Let me know if you can come, I'll give you an invitation - you'll need it to be able to come in. Also, don't forget a piece of ID, just in case. Security has been so strong, even at WIPO, nowadays. Sorry for that.... I hope you can make it! Anyway, I was able to put the finishing touches on this painting, yesterday. It's from a reference photo that I took last fall in Spokane, WA. I hope you'll like it.

Red Peony II by Theresa Miller

Red Peony II
6.5" x 9" Watercolor on Arches paper
Busy day yesterday: flower arrangement class in the morning, chocolate making (watching and tasting - yummy!, actually) in the afternoon. Miraculously, I was able to finish up this painting of the heart of a red peony, in the evening. I hope you like it!

Orchids and Anemones

Yesterday, I took the morning off painting and spent a lovely time making flower arrangements with a very enthusiastic group of ladies. Thank you Cordelia and Marie, as always, for sharing with us your vast knowledge of this amazing craft - you are the best! BTW, those planters are actually empty cans (tomatoes, fruit cocktail, etc) covered with natural moss, twigs, tree barks and raffia. Cool stuff! As you probably know by now, I love painting flowers... flowers from yesterday's class will be my models for the days to come. Happy painting!

Happy New Year and Exhibition News

Happy New Year to you all!
I just returned to Switzerland after a long home-leave/Christmas/New Year's holidays in the USA - Washinton State, Washington DC and Virginia. I truly enjoyed the snow and I had the best of times visiting family and friends. It's great to be back and I'm looking forward to start painting again - inspiration is kicking in slowly but surely!

Exhibition news:
I'll be having a group exhibit with the United Nations Women's Guild at the WIPO in Geneva. I hope you can join us for the vernissage (opening) on February 3, 2009 at 18.30 hrs. Please contact me if you can come, I have a few extra invitations available. Thank you!

Dudley by Theresa Miller

Dudley
6" x 10" Watercolor on paper
Dudley is a gentle, sweet, gigantic dog. He is the only dog that I know that eats raw carrots - he eats raw baby carrots like there is no tomorrow.... maybe he is confused and thinks he is a horse, hehe

This is Mattie Inu. The breeders had named her Inu when she was born, and "Inu" means "dog" in Japanese.... So, she is Mattie, the Inu.

Mattie I by Theresa Miller

Mattie I
25cm x 18 cm Watercolor on Arches paper
Whoa, it's been so long since I posted a new painting here! I've been so busy getting ready for the holidays and didn't even notice how fast time passed! I imagine you can all relate....
Yesterday, I spent the whole day in my studio painting my friend's family pet, Mattie. I had the greatest time painting her, she is the sweetest and the friendliest Bernese Mountain dog I have ever seen and we all love her very much. I did two paintings of her (from photographs) and I shall post the other one here, tomorrow. These paintings are supposed to be Christmas presents to Mattie's Daddy, or rather, my friend's husband. So, if you happen to know him, please don't mention this post to him. Not yet, hehe.
